Probate

Probate is the process that transfers legal title of property from the estate of the person who has died (the "decedent") to his or her proper beneficiaries. The term "probate" refers to a "proving" of the existence of a valid Will, or determining who the legal heirs are if there is no Will.

The probate process also provides for the collection of any taxes due by reason of the deceased's death or on the transfer of his or her property. Additionally, it provides a mechanism for payment of outstanding debts owed by the decedent.

If you or a loved one is in need of legal assistance, call Gonzalez, Porcher, Albear & Garcia Toll Free at (800) 352-HURT or submit an online questionnaire. The initial consultation is free of charge, and if we agree to handle your case, we will work on a contingency fee basis, which means we get paid for our services only if there is a monetary recovery of funds. In many cases, a lawsuit must be filed before an applicable expiration date, known as a statute of limitations. Please call right away to ensure that you do not waive your right to possible compensation.
